Re: Safe for US buyer to purchase from overseas sellers?

Just apply the same caution that you would when looking at coins from a US dealer and you'll be fine. Some places have higher rates of scammers, like China, but that doesn't mean they're all bad. Use your judgment, check out their other listings and completed sales to get an idea of their trustworthiness. I've bought from… -
Re: My weird Ebay auction experience....

post your WTB on the BST with your amount you are willing to pay..I bought a proof Marine commem from Mach19 just today with a simple WTB thread...You might be surprised what your fellow members will do for you. I have never paid over what the average ebay price would be anyway. And I feel buying from a member even if it… -
Re: Is it just me...or is the series you have an interest in appear to be coming down in price?
My experience is with recently slabbed ANACS large cents (September, 2006.) Original, problem-free slabbed coins with eye-appeal are very solid and sell very easily. Coins with problems are discounted depending on just what type of problems they have. Coins that are damaged are being heavily discounted. Coins that are… -
Re: Email Impersonating eBay
<< <i>The above posts are correct. I get multiple spoof emails as well. paypal account issues, ebay issues, etc... A new one i got recently is people sending "second chance offers" but didn't list the card. When i was hunting the 52 mantle, i got multiple offers for the same card all from different emails. so in addition… -
Re: Flying eagle question
Numismedia says $255 in AU58. $215 in AU50, 225 in AU53, 240 in AU55, 255 in AU58, and 350 in MS60. Even if those prices sound a bit high, I think you did pretty well. One nice thing about Numismedia is their breakdown of all the AU grades. And it's free to use for the MS60 and lower stuff- you gotta be a subscriber for… -
Re: I'm pissed off

I think what this guy did is almost as bad as being a scammer, and here's why...I think the vast majoroty of people on this board are either in school or at work. I myself try to limit my time on here to less than an hour a day. Unless someone wants to deal, then I'm kind of 'stuck' to my computer while we talk. If there… -
Re: Why E-bay ?
Ebay is good for certain types of coins, such as modern commems which few store or bourse dealers seem to stock. There is no question that some dealers use it as a dumping ground and there are plenty of scammers as well. I have used it a great deal over the past 3+ years but will be cutting back now that my want list is… -
Some thoughts about image theft.
It appears that scammers are increasingly stealing images of coins (and other items) for use in their own on-line auctions. While the original image is copyrighted automatically I believe that, unless it is formally registered, the only damages that can be obtained thru legal action are actual damages. No punitive damages… -
Re: How To Use Instagram for a Coin Business
I've been on Instagram since 2014 buying and selling coins, paper money etc.. Roughly 13,000 followers. If you have any questions or if you sign up for an account, message me here with any questions and your username so I can follow you. The trick I've found to amass lots of followers is diversify your feed. I post silver… -
Re: HEY!!!! Non Posters or "Lurkers"
<< <i>They probably see how "well" new posters are treated and decide not to post. This place is like a "Good ol' Boys" club if I ever saw one... nothing like inside jokes every other post to get the newbies more involved. lol The gang mentality by the long-timers certainly leaves a lot to be desired. I do like the hobby…
