Re: A sad tale from the local coin shop ...
<< <i>Hard to feel sorry for ANYONE who chooses to buy a raw high dollar coin without the basic fundamental knowledge of how to spot a counterfeit/altered coin! >> That is true however, we shouldn't blame the victim for being scammed. Perhaps he purchased from a 100% positive feedback dealer he's brought from before,… -
Re: The official "1952 Topps Set" thread.
I have a dumb question for you guys. I'm doing a display for my Roy Campanella basic set and I've come to the realization that it will be a long time before I can afford the '52 Topps Campy. I was wondering if someone here had a nice midgrade copy that they wouldn't mind scanning so that I can at least have a picture in… -
Re: eBay Seller Scammed buyers and buyer is asking for contact info from me. What to do?
Poorguy, you omitted the "prices" part at the end of his Ebay user name when you first mentioned it. I find it a bit odd/surprising that if he indeed scammed people, he has not received any negative feedback to this point. The buyer who supposedly got scammed should be able to get the contact information through Ebay (and… -
Re: 1915 Babe Ruth rookie PSA 8oc: Think it's legit?

Reholdering would not generate a new cert. number; they use the old one. The most disconcerting thing to me is 2 transactions in the last year, none in the past 8 months, then suddenly a massively valuable item pushed out on eBay when selling through a reputable house would double or triple the take. It all smells like an… -
Re: HELP I am an eBay virgin
1.) Get EBay Verified, You get an Icon next to your name that says you are you. 2.) Start buying things to build up feed back, 3.)you will do better selling off line than on line untill feed back is built up, 4.) offer up a Bio about yourself even if you do not have large breasts like Shawna (I'm serious) 5.) If you sell… -
Re: eBay announces Feedback 2.0 + other changes
Buyers have been using Paypal to SCAM big ticket items for a while now--and there's nothing a seller can do about it. For instance, if you accept payment via paypal and do not purchase delivery confirmation or ship within 7 days of payment, if they buyer files a claim Paypal will automatically award the buyer the money,… -
Re: YAPAT (Yet another Pittsburgh ANA thread) It's long, I was there 5 days. You've been warned.

Thanks for the great report. I especially liked the vignettes. That $50 less scam was played on me 2 weeks ago at a show. I guess it's going around the country. I saw it played out as the "$100 less scam" at a dealer's table right before my eyes. The scammer tried to tell the seller that the partner quoted him $100 less.… -
Re: Take EXTREME care with bullion orders
Yes. You were lucky. It's the larger transactions that REAL scammers aim at. In the OP, the guy was buying silver higher than anyone on the tape so he was getting tremendous action. PRE scam, he was a reliable guy who raised no suspicion. That's why I shipped him what I did. I had had probably 5 or more previous… -
Re: BST Scumbag Alert!!!
<< <i> << <i>I made an offer on that coin which Henson4 accepted, then retracted once -I assume -the OP offered to purchase at some higher price.Although henson4 never replied to my pm's after the retraction,he also did not sell the coin twice. So maybe he's not ripping you off , if he was a thief I would think that he… -
Re: Question on PSA half grades

Bking, I wish we knew the dating also. Not to make this into a crazy thread but......PSA from this minute forward needs to never...never....never....never...change the font on the label again. They have changed the font like 10 times in 15 years and the scammers are happy as hell. There are so many cards on Ebay that you…
