Re: Anyone help grade & attribute this Large Cent error?
Great news, Conder, thanks. In the hand the coin doesn't look cleaned or recolored, there is some orange in the fields but the dominant color is a milk chocolate brown. On my screen the coin looks redder than in person. BTW, this auction ran two or three times with no bidders, I can't count how many times I almost pulled… -

Rolla, Missouri Hunt
I used the Sanborn Insurance Maps to try to locate the oldest area of Rolla, Missouri. I was going to have a few free hours after a golf tournament and didn't want to spend the time huddled in a dark, smoky tavern. (Did that Friday night, lol.) The sites I found were mostly paved over with little green areas to detect. I… -
Re: How about posting a pic or two of something you've seen that was strange or weird

In all seriousness, I hope this contribution doesn't violate the spirit of this thread. I'd like to share a short personal anecdote followed by a picture of something I absolutely didn't expect to see. Maybe not a strange thing, but very surprising. On Monday March 21 of this year, my area of the world had some bad… -
Re: vending boxes

Packman, BKAH Great pics! They all help to bring back the moment and for the younger crowd, a good shot at the past when you could walk the streets and not wind up on a milk carton! << <i>BigKid - I know what would happen to me: I'd put my penny in to get a Goofy, Target Moon or Wings card and end up with the duck walking… -
Re: Any collections unrelated to coin collecting?

Off and on at one time or another coins, stamps, world globes, PEZ dispensers, California Raisins, McDonald's Happy Meal toys, mineral specimens, playing cards, shot glasses, beer cans, National Geographic magazines with Coca Cola ads on the back cover, Commemorative Coke bottles, post cards, POGs, milk caps and probably… -
Re: A new 42-D SD $5 - A coin from the North Georgia Collection
Thanks for the compliments. The MS65 is a standout but surprisingly isn't that out of place with the other coins. Funny enough, it may actually be the rarest of all in an absolute sense as there is still debate as to which of the Philadelphia varieties is really the scarcest. I haven't posted my quarter eagles or eagles… -
Re: All this talk of 3.5 times sheet, can you??

Curly- When i said Ebay level the playing field i meant that as a outlet to sell, more so than buy. What dealers have offered to pay and what it has actually sold for on Ebay were worlds apart. I really like your 1911 MPL. That coin is sweet!! My father in law collected from the mid 1950's thru the 1970's. He lived in… -
Re: Beware, the Coin Show Police Are Watching the Dealers
Over the last 3 decades plus I've either attended, set up at, and/or been involved in promoting and running both coin and non-coin (i.e., Civil War memorabilia) shows. I can understand the points being made by those on both sides of the table... but that said, let me make a few observations. 1. Frankly I think that free… -
