Trade my 2006 ase's for any other date.
I have decided to build a set of BU ASE's since it's not too hard on the pocketbook and a set I may be able to complete before the end of the year. I have 2 2006 ASE's that I would like to trade for any other date but 2006. If you have a couple dates and would like to trade let me know. I am looking for BU coins preferably… -
Re: What happened to this PCGS Silver Eagle?
This was before the Great Milkspot Scandal of 2006 led people to dip mint purchases before sending to PCGS. The toning looks like there was a chemical spill involved, though, especially considering some of the odd streaking patterns. I wonder if it was treated with something before slabbing with the intent to later cook… -
Re: I guess all the Accented Hair bloodhounds are at evening services tonight?

hey DCAM i think you're talking about the first coin, in which case i would agree. the second, with the haze removed by a quick "bath" would no doubt be a wonderfullly contrasted DCAM. check the auction link Russ provided along with the enlarged extra pic he got from the seller and i'm sure you'll agree. no frost break… -
Re: The Melting Pot!
Why would someone melt a silver eagle? I can see melting 90% or 40% silver coins to burn off or take out the copper and whatever else is floating around in there to get more pure silver (ie. .999 fine), but melting a coin that is already .999 fine doesn't make sense to me. If you were talking about sending coins to the… -
Re: Are sky-high prices causing you to lose interest?

Skyrocketing prices made me continually adjust what I wanted to spend money on. A few years back, it was Morgans. Those kept going up. Then, it was Franklins and ASEs. Silver goes up, milkspotting becomes news, I get out of ASEs except for some 2006 3pc sets, nicely toned ones, or raw sets for the kid and myself. Franklins… -
Re: 50c Proof experts, a question. Giveaway!

hey Dimetime you don't need to look at the coins with any magnification to weed out the lesser coins for the PCGS submission. get some good lighting, i use halogen because it's "hard" and will show and ticks or hailines. hold the coin your inspecting and rotate it to get a good look at it under lighting to reveal… -

Re: Lakeland Collect-O-Rama Show Report - *PICTURES ADDED*

Here we go... the pictures!! First, the 3 AH Kennedys... I shot these pics just with the light reflecting right back at the camera in the mirrors... none have really any contrast, so, unless they would grade numerically high, they are not worth submitting... Here is the colorful '63 Roosy. I used the same method as above… -
What would you do...PCGS guarantee downgrade?
Well folks, I had a 2006-W $1 PCGS PR70, but it started developing the dreaded milkspots after about 6 months in the holder. So I dropped it off at the PCGS booth at FUN for a guarantee review. As expected PCGS has come back with a downgrade to PR69 (which still seems odd given the amount of spotting). My first question is… -
Grapevine Coin Show was OK
Well like usual, I thought the Grapevine Coin show was pretty good again this year. On Saturday it was pretty full, Sunday like usual had dealers leaving early. I bought a couple of Morgans, and a replacement 1994 SAE (the previous one has a unsightly big white milkspot on it). One of the dealers had some really fabulous…
