Charmy's April 2015 SANTA CLARA COIN SHOW Report with lots of Pics!!!

Scott Griffin has been working very hard at building back up the Santa Clara Coin Show. It’s in a great location, right off several major freeways, and the convention floor is very roomy with easy loading right off the back loading dock. With the new sports stadium being built right behind the convention center, Scott has… -
Re: Saddle Ridge Hoard
Considering all the lead in drinking water pipes, paint, and elsewhere that no one appreciated as being toxic back at the turn of the last century, the individual could have lived on but lost mental capacity. The cans that the coins were buried in were some of the first cans to be manufactured in the United States and… -
Re: 2024 NFL Offseason/Regular Season Thread
here's an SI article about the officiating that's on point the analogy to the way JJ runs the Cowboys was especially salient the NFL will care just enough about the on-field policing problem to keep you and me around. and seeing as the league is impenetrable, things will only get worse before they get better. for crying… -
Re: Spacebaby: Why collectors should invest in PSA vintage MtG Magic Cards!
Hello all, tromagic has been encouraging me to pop in and say hello - so I thought I would. (Especially as my ears were burning!) Brief introduction to me: Starting playing MtG around the time of antiquities/revised (well about the time AQ was disappearing from the shops anyway) and was fairly keen collector / player then.… -

Another Central States show report

So my motto with big coin shows is go early or don’t go at all thus I rolled into the hotel parking lot at 11:15 Wednesday morning for PNG “day” at Central States. This was my first time doing a PNG day so I didn’t know what to expect. At this show they roped off most of the bourse and had the dealers temporally set up in… -
Re: Have my Mantle '52 topps GAI 7 on E-Bay.
Morgoth; I agree with everything you said concerning the need to see the card in person to make a well informed opinion on it's grade. The sentence where you state" if it's still in a GAI holder, there must be an issue with it" is where we differ. In this months Sports Market Report, Mile High Card Company has a two page… -
Portland ANA update.........

Started the week with the ANA grading seminar Tuesday thru Thursday. MDWoods and his buddy John were here with Rick Kay and Clackamas. I've spent most of my time chasing copper so learned a TON about silver and gold. While walking the bourse Thursday and Friday, it was like blinders had been taken off my eyes. There were… -
Photo test: With and without diffuser

By 'diffuser', I mean a plastic milk jug that has been cut and placed so that it softens the light on the coin. The diffuser floods the subject with light from all directions, usually giving a more complete and natural illumination. It reduces contrast. This milk jug diffuser achieves a good balance, it is not completely… -
Drove 362.3 Miles. "Found NO Mercury Dimes" !!

Just got back from the PNNA Show in Seattle. Decent Show and Viewed some Very Nice Coins but Absolutely No Mercury Dimes. A Couple of the Dealers that I have done business with were Singing the Blues about Finding Fresh Material. One Dealer that does Mostly Mail Order said He Could Not believe the Amount of New Collectors…
