$10 Morgans, Automotive Swap Meet versus Coin Show
There was the big Pate Swap Meet this week (Wednesday - Sunday) north of Dallas. I picked up 7 common date Morgans for $10 from one guy. Saw some common proof sets for $10 and some Mint Unc sets for $5. If you walked the meet at looked at each space, it takes just over 21 miles to cover it, all outside, all in a parking… -
So...I learned a lot by purchacing a raw coin recently...

I bought a raw coin (two cent piece) that I intended to have slabbed and it looked all good to me. The surface looked fine but it came back "impropperly cleaned" from NGC. I was surprised so I took it into a trusted dealer to get his opinion. Here is what he said: burnished. The tell-tale sign? The surface had a SLIGHT… -

Pre auction viewing and Auction questions.
Thanks for your answers in advance. The Portland ANA auction and show will be the first big show that will be attended and frankly I have no idea how to approach the Auction viewing and the Auction. Heritage has a pre viewing on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Are all of the coins out on tables or do you ask to see… -
Re: Jordan uda 8x10 for sale or trade "scan"
No jordan fans? The scene at Hoops The Gym was deathly quiet Thursday. That spot where Michael Jordan parked his sports car du jour last summer? Empty. Those NBA stars who came virtually every day to help him work out? Nowhere. The roving eyes of trainer Tim Grover, protecting Jordan from an outside world that wasn't all… -

Re: Many collectors miss the whole point of collecting.....
I collect a little bit of everything.......... I have a few modern clads in slabs. Matter of fact I have every stinking coin minted in 1997, biz, proof, bullion, commems etc, most in the 69 or 70 grade in PCGS holders. I have the high grades because they are, ummm....well...graded higher than the low grades. Yep, I bought… -
At this time we are NOT SELLING 2009 Gold and Silver Eagles.
Message I received today from Silver State Coin: ""At this time we are NOT SELLING 2009 Gold and Silver Eagles. As you may have heard, the U S Mint has virtually stopped production of Gold and Silver Bullion Products due to a severe shortage of physical metal. While the spot prices of Gold and Silver have dropped… -
Re: I hit the credit card wall!
It's WAY too easy to just call an 800 number, or visit a website, and give those numbers, then sit and wait for the coin to arrive.. it's almost Pavlov dog stuff, with the CC being the buzzer, the coin being the treat. Sometimes, depending on how slow the item was shipped and what part of the month I ordered it in, the… -
Re: Men Who Collect Coins and Impending Involuntary Adult Bachelorhood...Is There a Correlation?

ROFL, this was an amusing thread. Honestly, I didn't know there was so many misfits among us, I'm still laughing at the thought of this in my mind How many guys would be excited about dating for the long term [not just a meaningless fling] and marrying a woman who has a hobby of collecting clay statues of cute bunnies and…
