Re: This 62 DDO DCAM Franky is ready for Sarasota

From the pictures presented, I'm not seeing where the dipping is especially needed.... I see what might be a slight bit of toning or haze around 6 o'clock on the obverse, and perhaps a few small milkspots?? I'm curious about what you guys are seeing that indicates it needs a bath (and heck yes, let the pros do it!!) -

<< <i>Coins with PVC can be slabbed, if the service believes it can be removed without hurting the coin. >> I think this guy was saying that the holders caused the PVC spots. I have a hard time believing that. There would be a whole lot of unhappy customers by now if the slabs had a PVC or a reaction with the coins.… -

Re: SAE's and philosophical dilemma
Thanks for all the good input, it looks like replacement is the only option and I will surely upgrade my holder/album and locate into a less toxic environment. I know people call the white growth "milkspots" but it is a very aggressive process and milk spots just sounds way too benign. Thanks again, your advice is very… -

Dessicant(sp) where to get.
Can someone please link my to a website that sells this? I need to put some in my safe. Some of my recently graded SAE's are starting to MilkSpot in the PCGS Holder. I wonder if this is reaction with the plastic in the PCGS slab or an improper planchet rinse at the mint. I have heard both stories from many people and not… -
Re: **UPDATE** Huckster at Work on EBay, Folks! You make the call!
Although I'm not supporting the seller at all in this I want to point out that the chip/ding on the reverse slab ridge below the right corner of the label makes it look like the same coin. Of course this picture could be a year old. He pulled them out of his damp basement safe, found milkspots and sold them. --Jerry -
Re: Let's dispel the myth: Registry Collectors/ upgrades...

TomB: Point taken! Some of the Olympic coinage is pretty bad no matter the grade. Gradewise though, on anything else (!) I'd like to see that PCGS MS68. RE: PCGS MS67 copper with carbon/ fingerprints/ milkspots- They're out there but thank goodness for PCGS's copper guarantee (NGC doesn't offer this). ((Remember TRUTH'S… -
Re: A Rather Nice 1964 Kennedy Accented Hair. Guess the Grade!
I'm with the 67 cam bunch. Nice find. Looks like a small stain between the F and D on the reverse, and what might be a light milkspot in the left obv field. (which these are notorious for). That, plus the few marks suggest 67, unless there are hairlines. With regard to the cam/dcam designation, silver devices usually get… -
Re: Best fire safe for around $500?

It is not recommended to store coins in a fireproof safe, as mentioned above. The material that makes it 'fireproof' will affect your coins and you will have AT coins I do store my coins in a regular safe (well, regular means no fireproofing)... 750 pounds empty. I keep many things in there... and a generous store of…
