Current gold prices and buying Saint Gaudens $20 better dates
For those Saints experts out there, I wouldn't mind looking at acquiring some more Saints, however, I don't want to chase after common dates. The premiums have collapsed (at least on common dates) and what I'm wondering is, what dates are what you might call in the "sweet spot" for scarcity and price? I realize one could… -
Re: SGC ORDER
Agree 100% and that RW is seriously under appreciated as a player. Dude could play. So, ifPSA (and now SGC?!) are basically doing all they can to discourage vintage collectors from grading where do we go? I sent some recently from the fall specials, just got the grades released and will NEVER send to PSA again. I’m done. I… -
Re: What could make this strong market for coins come to a grinding halt?
It can't happen until there are more sellers than buyers and short of an ecomnomic calamity that is very unlikely to happen soon. There is no obvious speculation going on in the hobby so a selling panic is improbable. This market wasn't built on precious metals prices so in the unlikely event that they fall it should have… -
Re: JPMorgan (JPM) to Deliver $4B Worth of Gold Bullion amid Tariff Fears
The weakest ploy in modern times is to charge someone who has a valid point as a conspiracy theorist, and these so called "conspiracies" have more often than not turned out to be true. Provide something of note that isn't behind a paywall. Better yet, audit the Fed and then dissolve it. There's no need for a… -
Re: Mr. Adderly - what a long, strange road it has been
This has been on the PSA site for at least 10 years..I don't understand where the disconnect is...Agree or disagree, but this is how they have always done business... The Importance of Eye-Appeal and Subjectivity in Grading Over the years, more and more collectors have come to understand the basic guidelines behind PSA… -
Re: ***APRIL 2010 Gold and Silver Stocks/Options/Futures trading thread***
<< <i>That is quite an ominous chart, cohodk. I don't think the markets are ready to topple just yet, as SP500 at 1250 looked to me to be an important level that I feel it's destined to be reached. We're actually not that far... I'll be surprised if the markets to fall before reaching 1250, but it is of course possible. My… -

Short report from China
I arrived in Shanghai today after 5 days in Beijing and wanted to give a short report on the coin business here. I got a chance to go to two government coin and currency museums, visited some "reputable" coin dealers, and went to the antique market in Beijing to see some not so reputable dealers. Whats hot - the visit to… -
S.E. Ward Sutler Tokens- Fort Laramie, Dakota Territory

Here are two Sutler Tokens from S.E. Ward who was the sutler at Fort Laramie, Dakota Territory. One is the 25 cent variety and the other is the 50 cent variety. There is also a 10 cent variety that is much rarer and I have yet to find one for my collection. I wrote an article about Sutler tokens from frontier forts about a… -
Re: what would have happened if the us had stayed on the gold standard
I think there is a flawed understanding of how the Gold EXCHANGE Standard (not "Gold Standard") worked from 1945-71. For starters, no financial firms were "bailed out" though flexibility allows for mopping up operations. :) Second, downturns would have been more severe and unemployment much higher (much as Europe today)…
