milkspots on 2010 5 oz bullion
while taking a look at some of my 2010 5 oz i noticed the spots. actually i didn`t even see it with the naked eye but after taking photos for ebay and getting the pics on my computer the spots really jumped out. it is graded MS68 PL. has anyone else found the milkspots on the 5 oz coins? i also have a 2006 20th anniv.… -

How long do I have with slabbed 20th aniv. set (except proof) before the spots start showing up? -
Do toned gold eagles = SAEs with milkspots?
Is it some other reaction? Are they related? What would cause toning this dramatic for such a recent piece of bullion? -

The description in the linked auction mentions the milkspots (kudos to the seller), but the picture really doesn't show them (they could be small and hard to see at certain angles), so the buyer may not be paying attention to the desc, or may be thinking they aren't that bad (not realizing they could grow). -

Has anyone seen milkspots on NGC graded ASE's?
I haven't even though I will have to admit that I have seen more PCGS slabbed ASE's vs NGC's personally. But it appears to me that PCGS has a bigger problem with these than NGC and may well be part of the reason they no longer award the grade of 70 to any ASE's. Your thoughts/experience.... -

<< Difficult to say what causes those milkspots. Current thinking ranges to improper planchet washing by the mint to improper storage by the owner. I know one thing...the spots don't come off.
