Re: Do you all think this 75th Anniv. proof is a 70 ??
<< <i>It just shows again how PCGS gives the Big Dealers all the 70's even when the coin is obviously not a 70. I guess PCGS has to give the big dealers a certain percentage of 70's, it must be some kind of back room deal. >> Huh? WTF do you mean. Can you back up this statement with ANY facts? No, you can't. More dealers… -
Re: Does anyone have an extreme closeup of what dipping does to the surfaces of a silver coin?

<< <i> << <i>Maybe close to 20 years ago, Scott Travers showed me before and after images of a coin that had been dipped once, the images taken through a scanning electron microscope. The "before" picture showed crisp metal flow lines. The after picture showed substantially eroded metal flow lines, like a sand castle that… -

Being inexperienced, I didn't realize pictures could show such drastic… -

Re: How about an update on the Colorado Springs fires?
I am living back out here now. The fire started about 5-6 miles east of the Air Force Academy, which itself runs from about 10 to15 miles north of the ANA. From there it spread east and then north. By yesterday morning the growth had pretty much stopped, and then a heavy rain overran the fire. Today there is no new growth,… -
Re: Ordered some new 2019 "S" Silver proofs. What is the best way to insure their best collectors value?
Personally, if they are a legacy gift, I would not slab them. If they milk spot, there will be no advantage to being in the slab. If your grandchildren sell them for anything, they'll thank you for it. It's free money to them. Personally, I would never buy and slab these hoping for future appreciation. There is no way to… -
Re: Is anyone picking up physical silver today ?
Quality product is always a bit more expensive. That being said, the main value of bullion is when melt value increases. So, for me, ugly ASE's (i.e. milk spotted, enameled) at melt can be good value. I would not mortgage the farm for them, but a reasonable purchase as the market drops would be a good thing. Re: Someone asked why I acetone every coin before submitting.
Doing an acetone soak/wash on coins is an excellent way to avoid possible future issues. We have no way of knowing what may have affected a coin prior to our acquisition... unless directly from the mint (and still, I have and would, wash ASE's immediately, since it 'may' prevent milk spots) or slabbed. Cheers, RickO
