Re: Advice Wanted! Will Getting Variety Attribution on THIS Coin Help or Hurt When Selling?
No vote, but am in agreement with @TomB and others. This seems like a effort in futility, with added cost and risk, to show a common Die Marriage on the holder, possibly creating a "certification rarity" for a future sale that may or may not have bidders that want the attribution on their holders. Most early federal buyers… -
Re: HK-685: R8 Santa Monica Breakwater So-Called Dollar - Rarity or Condition?

Thanks for the replies everyone. It's good to get different insights. I'm in the process of updating my collecting approach which is one reason for soliciting more feedback in my decisions. In this process, I'm okay with having some false negatives (if this is a false negative) to set up a process that can help me avoid… -
Re: What year were these (1770) Macniven & Camerons Pen Tokens made?
Most "false guinea" tokens date from the lifetime of George III (pre-1820), but these are much later in make. By 1850, card-counter makers were all making Cumberland Jacks, rather than false guineas. The company was founded in 1770 (hence the date, and anachronistic theme) but didn't adopt the "Macniven & Cameron" name… -
Re: Graded Seated Liberty Quarters in VF

They fall into the impossible category. :p Of the "big 4" my 70-cc was straight graded but crap. 71-cc was details graded so you know it was extra crappy. 72-cc was market acceptable and not a bad coin overall (and is by far the most common of the 4). 73-cc was the only totally original one of the bunch. It probably didn't… -
Re: Sharing results from first CAC stickering submission in 6 years
# Ownership bias is tough. And very real, especially when we start to fall in love with our coins. I remember a couple-three years ago I went like 14 for 30 with CAC, and I was really kind of butt-hurt and scratching my head until I really put the critical eye back on them after they returned. I still disagreed with maybe… -

<< <i>As much as I would like to agree with this thread, Without real proof, its really just slander or actually libel. Just because a bank opened after the date of the rolls doesnt mean it didnt have them prior to opening. I would be careful posting some of these, posters could get sued.proof is required.... just an… -

<< <i>If you say that a coin has a shot at MS70 and it doesn't get it, are you obligated to give a refund? NO! >> I don't see how this is relevant because this is not the case being discussed. A more similar example would be if you said a coin had a shot at a PCGS MS70 and it's a coin that PCGS flat out doesn't grade. <<… -
Interesting case where Ebay got sued b/c someone left negative feedback on a buyer
Although this is not really numismatic related, I found this case interesting (a lot of people post threads about Ebay, so hopefully no one minds this post). The case is from this year, and basically a buyer sued Ebay for defamation becauase a seller posted negative comments about him on a particular transaction (I guess… -
Re: Has the increase in the spot price of silver caused you to inventory your silver coinage?
@SanctionII said: Has anyone else done the same? Kevin, I started doing what you’re doing back in early December after Silver was past $50. Most of what I had was singles, 10/25/50 Proofs in incomplete sets, some BU’s including a partial set of Franklins and some 90% and Sterling medals. I sold last week at 50x and my net… -
Re: Your first Coin Album
Whitman Lincoln folder starting 1944 from my grandfather. Back in 1961 or 1962. I still have the folder today. It shows where I scotch taped the coins into place, preventing them from falling out.... What any 9 year old kid would have done! 😂 And yes, the elusive 55-S was a bear to find until a bought one for 25¢ or 30¢.…
