Who is buying all the 2011 Platinum proof 1 oz coins and why??
I'm surprised at the continuing sale of relatively large numbers of 1 ounce platinum proof coins. Who is buying these and why?? If there is sufficent interest to sell 12K+ of the 1 ounce 2011 slugs then I would have expected some spillover interest in the various earlier 2006-2008 proof and uncirculated W coins where… -

<< <i>This fact received a lot of publicity when Brett made a run at .400, but was injured part of season. I do not remember which year it was. A lot of the talking heads did not like the rule. >> The year was 1980. Brett finised with 449 AB, but his 58 walks pushed his total plate appearances over the required minimun, so… -
Re: Sea Salvaged 1920 Manilla Mint Opening So-Called Dollars
The pic posted in the OP is certainly NOT a sea salvaged piece. That PCGS AU58 piece was a coin I bought uncertified in a group lot at auction years ago and was one of the prettiest examples of the HK-449 I've had and I've owned them all the way up to MS66 examples. The ebay link posted in the OP does go to a sea salvaged… -
Re: 1973 Topps Checklist #588
That is definitely one of the toughest cards in the set to find in high grade. I'd say the 10 toughest cards would be in no particular order: #173 Breedan #217 Wilson #247 Unser #259 Holt #449 Aspromonte #534 Lemonds #560 Howard #588 Checklist #590 Johnson #593 McKeon I'm going to also mention the Yaz and Morgan as two HOF… -
