Question for the HOF autograph Set Registry members here (and anyone curious).
Would you like to see the HOF Autograph Registry weighted? I think that it would only be fair that weights be added for the more rare, downright scarce, and more valuable autographs that will be making up this set. I don't see any weights currently on the set, and it just doesn't seem right to me that someone who goes and… -
The Best Football Set on the Registry?
Until now, I think hands down the best football set on the registry has been Don Louchios's 1935 National Chicle with an 8.35 set rating. Now one has just recently appeared that has the potential of beingn the undisputed king. Wes Verno has posted a 1955 Topps All-America Set with 77 nines(including I believe all the… -
Re: light cleaning MS coins valuation
extrapolating NGC registry points to value. an NGC marked as UNC Details gives you 1/2 the points of an MS60. so ergo half the value of an MS60, still worthwhile in an NGC registry set. PCGS gives you a grade value of "1" times the coin weight they assigned it. for details coin. example coin weight is a "4". 1x4 = 4points'… -
Re: OFFICIAL Roberto Clemente Master Set thread
Hi Bobby, I have been working with PSA on getting the weights changed for some time. A long time ago I sent proposed new weights to the top 10 master set holders to which I received no response. I have since been trying to point out some (in my opinion) glaring errors - like the 6 weight on a Milk Duds single vs. a 2… -
Finally finished my Standing Quarter One per Date Set

Well now, after many years of searching, many missed opportunities and being the under bidder in more than a few different auctions, I finally secured a really nice 1930 S SLQ PCGS Gem 65 CAC. These coins have been hot, lately, and I got this one from a dealer’s inventory for an extremely reasonable amount considering what… -
Re: 'Set Rating' calculation
Pretty much what I suspected. I wish there was a table to determine the weighted value of a particular coin and grade combination. That would be one huge pdf file. What are weights? Within a set, not all coins have the same value and rarity. Sets in the PCGS Set Registry are weighted on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being the… -
Re: HOF Set is on the registry.
Hal: Regardless of the proper "weighting" system to ever develop, it is clear that you are the Undisputed King! You have nearly every Hall of Famer who has a card, and the grades of your cards are amazing. Any Hall of Fame collection that starts out with a PSA 9 Hank Aaron card is something else. How about relating… -
Re: true or not?...."genuine" CAN fill a registry position?
I would like to have clarified exactly what the "1" represents. Since I just purchased a Genuine holdered 1856 D gold dollar, this carries a registry weight of 10, as a graded example, which is the highest weight in the series. I would assume that it can be added to the registry, and the 1 will represent the 'weight'' that… -
Thread following process of creating a New Registry Set (the set itself, not my collection)
I plan to periodically update this thread as I make progress (or don't) getting a new registry set started. Hopefully it's a short lived thread due to the set being started quickly. Wish me luck @Catbert ! Day 1 - PM sent with request to @Charles_Morgan (Summary: I would like a new set based on the book referenced in this… -
Re: My first Morgan 1902 O MS62
I just copied that for you to see the dates of all the O morgans. The weight, the second number, is how much that coin is weighed when calculating the grade average of your set when registered on the PCGS set registry website. For example, the 1886-o is weighted 6, the 1904-o 1, so the 1886-o grade would be counted 6 times…
