PCGS Survey is out!
I just got David Hall's survey in my e-mail. You may want to check yours. Here it is: An Important Message From David Hall For All Set Registry Participants The PCGS Set Registry has grown tremendously during the last year. It is now an important part of the rare coin market. We believe the Set Registry is popular because… -

Re: Who Determines Weightings?
While a polite message may seem in order, I disagree. The burden is on the website itself, and in this case, the Registry side of their house. To just assign willy-nilly weightings to cards just to fulfill a requirement is ludicrous. If that's the original object, then they may as well give every card a weight of 1 and… -
Re: Ike Registry Sets About to be Decimated!!!! Help

Regarding weighting... The Type 2 is no-question the toughest in all grades except possibly MS66. And there are so few MS66, and they were graded over such a wide time frame, that it's folly to try to draw too much statistical signficance from them. So in my opinion the Type 2 should have the greatest weighting. David had… -
Cowboys HOF RC Set is Complete

A big thanks to FavreFan for parting with the final piece to my Cowboys HOF Registry. This 72 Rayfield Wright just arrived today, which will move me to #9 for the time being. A bit shocked that all these cards are weighted the same. There is a huge difference between a Lilly and Wright and a Irvin, Sanders, Aikman...but… -
Re: 1969 set weights

My understanding is that some, if not most, of the weighting is done by a Registry member for that set. I have submitted several Excel spreadsheets for football and hockey sets that were not yet weighted. There are no set rules as to how to do the weighting. I use the following guideline: (1) The weighting must be in… -
Re: Registry Set Statistics Revisted

Not sure who/what the slams refer to, and keeping in mind that you are on the registry board, after all , I'll respond to the serious parts: Personally, I liked the older simpler registry, no weighting at all, keep it a game with simple rules, especially since no individual coin's desirability can be reduced to a grade on… -
Re: Should I build a Set or just sell it
Wow, nice stash! I see a few potential upgrades also. You may consider starting a CC registry set, it’s only 13 coins and you already have 6. You may wish to consider the NGC CC Registry. 1)You wouldn’t have to crack your 80cc GSA, NGC will grade in the gov’t holder. 2)you may still list all your PCGS coins. 3)the NGC CC… -

Weight values for new cards?
I'm curious to know how PSA assigns a weight value to a card(s) newly accepted into an established PSA Registry set. Does the person submitting the cert# suggest a weight value in the comments box? If so, how does one contemplate the weight value? I know of some cards from the mid-60s that are Topps issued and not in the…
