Re: How do you come up with a "value" for a POP 1?
<< <i>Is it a pop 1 because no one bothers to grade them or because no one can get the card in that high of a grade. >> +1 I build Indians team sets up through the 80's and have run into this. Seller makes a big deal that it's a pop 1, but there are only 3 graded (2 9's and a 10) -
Re: Fox is advertising this year's NLCS Game 1 as best pitching matchup ever!
How about Game 1 of the 1983 NLCS? Steve Carlton against Jerry Reuss. The Phillies beat the Dodgers 1-0. Carlton gave up 7 hits in 7 2/3 innings and Reuss gave up 5 hits and 1 run (a 1st inning HR by Mike Schmidt) in 8 innings. Steve -

1/2 Cent Variety Help
I purchase a 1804 1/2 Cent today (ANACS Fine Details, Net VG 8 Corroded). The label included C-13, which I assume is similar to a Sheldon number (i.e. die variety) for half cents. I don't know the details about half cents, and I'm trying to catagorize by purchase based on Red Book listings. RedBook lists 5 varieties for… -
Slab "collectors"...which do you prefer? PCGS gen 1 or Doily slab? - Pics added...Guess t
I went to a local show yesterday. Not much to buy but I had to get something. Someone had set up that I didn't recognize, so I checked out what he had. He had 3 morgans in PCGS gen 1 holders. Common date. Had 1 in a doily. I bought the doily and 1 of the others. Not sure why I did. No toning. Look better than the grades on… -
Old Silver Mint Sets were Limit 1 per Person
I was just on the ebay site looking through old silver US Mint sets. Saw this auction. Was it true the limit of the old silver US Mint sets was 1 per person? If so, is that why the mintages were low? If so, were there people who ordered more than one, such as coin dealers? Is there anyone on the board with personal… -

WTB nongold (i.e., inexpensive) South African 1-rand coin
The exact type doesn't matter. I'd just like a coin that says "1 Rand" on it, as I have an infant nephew named Rand. He has a twin brother named Avi (Avishai), and I'll be giving Avi a PCGS slabbed John Adams presidential dollar, since Adams is an ancestor of ours. I figured a similarly inexpensive 1-rand coin would be a… -
1998 1/2 ounce gold panda brings STRONG money!
Was watching an ebay auction that ended this evening. It was for a very ellusive 1998 1/2 oz gold panda. With a scant mintage just north of 4,100 pieces, it is the single rarest regular issue gold panda by far! It closed at $1,439, or about 3.2x melt. The panda series is alive and well. In 5 years, we may be banging our… -
