I had a good time at the show for a few hours on Friday afternoon and then another hour or so earlier today. Looks like I missed Bochi and Lakes since I wasn't there on Saturday....but I did say hi to Swampboy on Friday. Today was especially fun as I got to spend some time at Charmy's table and she let me open and close her cases at will which made me feel like a VIP. She gave me a great basic education on 1859-1863 copper and I admired her eye catching examples. I looked at a couple of her gorgeous Indian proofs....an 1887 in PF64BN with an amazing yellowish wash over Liberty that created a wonderful cameo. Plus a 1904 PF64RB with blazing magenta and emerald greens on the rims. She sold me this mint state 1899 example that has a sweet cherry toned iridescence. The photo from Charmy's website (Todd's handiwork) does a good job of capturing the colors though its luster in-hand really makes those
As a collector my "strategy" for buying coins is pretty simple: try to buy the most eye appeal I can for my budget. So I'm generally all over the map in terms of denomination and series. Eugene Bruder had a killer proof cameo 1804 English Bank Dollar that I would have loved to snatch up....but its price tag is beyond my wallet at the moment. Still, owning a proof dollar from 1804 would have been fun and with an English example you can do so at a tiny fraction of the price of its US counterpart. I did notice a number of fresh coins on the floor for this show although not as many as I saw at the Boeing show in January. As is always the case: anything with eye appeal was priced strong and anything without it (not counting key dates) was priced closer to low retail or greysheet.
If you made it this far thanks for looking!

Airplane, those pics of your SLQ are tremendous.
I was supposed to be there Friday except I wasn't. Because of the thundery weather on Thursday, there were residual delays for Friday. Those delays plus fuel contamination resulted in an 8am departure delayed until 3pm. The trip schedule was changed to Saturday and I was at the show Saturday. Dealers I knew reported very good attendance for Friday and steady retail sales. Saturday was reportedly decent as well although not as strong as Friday results. Personally it wasn't a thoroughly exciting show but things were consistent and overall it was successful.

Reverse is just semi-pl which likely held back the PL designation. I agree about good value with AU58 grades especially when they have great eye appeal.
Being a Morgan lover, that is a very sweet 79-S ya' picked up there.
