MS64, and I wouldn't be surprised if it went FS at PCGS. But maybe not at NGC.

To me, it looks like there is very little wear, full steps, high points look full with faint wear, eye appeal appears to be very good. However, being new to the grading game I'm probably way off base. With that proviso I would think that it would grade out as either a 66 or a 67. A very good find.

I'm currently looking a nickel rolls to fletch out my album of circulated nickels and do wish that I could find coins in this condition.

My additional question would be: "If the coin does grade out as a 66 is the value of the coin on Numismedia.com reflective of market conditions?"

I would submit that coin to PCGS in a nanosecond, even if it doesn't get the designation (and I think from the pictures that there is a decent shot), it has to be one of the best looking reverses on a 1960 nickel out there.

ms65, and I've seen many pcgs full steps that don't look as good as the op's.

Full steps no question. At least with my eyes....Your very lucky as I've gone through MANY rolls of the 1960 date nickel's and I've never run across a coin such as the one your showing!! Very nice and well done....Joe

I grade it 64 with no full steps. The hit under the 3rd column clearly goes thru two steps which should keep it from the designation. I think the term used is "uninterrupted" and PCGS requires a minimum of 5. Shag

I agree except I think it's a very good shot. The coin appears to have "the look".

The flaws don't seem to extend down to the area between the steps so I think it's very likely to make it.

I think the bridge under the second pillar is too severe and will preclude a full step designation by both TPG's. As far as grade, I think it is PCGS MS65 with a shot at MS66 by NGC.

I grade it MS65, and I don't think the coin should receive a full step designation. With this said, there is enormous variability with the applicaton of the designation, so you might get lucky. It's worth the $14 gamble. Even if a non-designated specimen, with this much detail (for this date/mint mark) it should fetch at least some premium to an advanced Jefferson Nickel collector. Good luck if you decide to submit it.

I don't think any of these will receive a FS designation. I wouldn't submit these.

Hitting a nice toughie Jeffie again! Great coin for a nice BU Raw Set. It should not FS and I would grade MS64. Not to play down the significance of how tough this one is! However, NGC may give you the FS nod. I buy coins and not holders.
