1909-O $5 Gold (no "O" variety)

Looks like a hijacked account:
1909-o $5 Gold

Aside from the missing mintmark, I couldn't imagine bidding on any 1909-o $5 Gold on ebay that wasn't certified
Should be interesting to see what the final price goes to.

Someone may be highly disappointed but probably not the underbidders. Only the winner will be the loser. (my humble opinion)

Are there diagnostics on the 1909-O $5 Tndian gold that enables one to identify this coin when there is no mintmark? I know this is the case with the $2 1/2 Indian gold.

I don't know, but... I can't just "think" something is there. I defer to the experts.
  • Auction was pulled by ebay. There was certainly no "o" mintmark on the coin. It is true that ALL $5 Indians have weak mintmarks, but, the "o" mintmark should still be easily visible on any 1909-o. I will say this.........ebay has become a much safer place to conduct coin transactions. They are looking out for the buyers now.

PS: I don't work for ebay
