Interesting PCGS insert. (Cannot find in slab book.)

I have not seen this insert before. The person we got it from said it was a short-lived "variety" that PCGS used back in the OGH days. I looked through the slab book that shows the history of slabs of the different grading services, but did not see this in there. This could perhaps be in a newer edition slab book (if one exists).
The contrast between the two colors is a little sharper than the image suggests.

I don't think there is such an animal as this in the PCGS world.

Based on the shadow behind it, the sharpie is on the slab.
<< <i>My guess it is a slab that had a sticker that covered up the bottom half of that label, and that it then spent some time in the sun. >>
My thoughts as well. However, the fact that the change in color runs parallel to the lettering and goes directly through the center of the grade (MS62) does give me pause.

Yeah, you're probably right. And looking at the coin that is certainly the first impression that I get. But when I look closely at it (I can't believe that I actually looked at an insert with a glass), there is zero fading in the type and also the lighter color extends to the very top of the insert, which is actually protected a bit by the plastic. I would think the part covered by the plastic would show at least a touch less fade than the area totally exposed to light.
The improperly colored card stock mentioned by MsMorrisine also makes sense.
Oh, well.
