wasn't someone just asking about first spouse coins?

The Alice Paul thing is disappointing in concept. One of the last sources of interest in this series was the Liberty designs that would come up when there was no first spouse.

At this point, I'm not sure which way to go. Stop sinking money into this series, and enjoy the partial set as interesting bullion, or keep sinking money into building a complete set in the hope that mintages get even lower, sparking interest someday.

If you mean mintages under 1000 (and not sub $1000 gold), I think we'll see that level of mintage if gold hits $4000-$5000.

I just couldn't imagine gold at that elevation. And more so, I would hate to see what the economy looked like if it was.

Yes, first spouse gold coins would be the least of our worries in that situation.

Boy, is it just me, or does Alice look a bit wound too tight in that portrait??? In any case, not an inspiring design at all. I don't think anyone who orders will have to worry about the mint server performance on ordering day...

  • Will Alice Paul be regarded as a 'stand alone' as a collectible?
She doesn't fit into the 'Liberty subset' category.

Any non-collector examining the coin will see only an "Alice Paul, Suffragist" commemorative. There is no mention of Chester A. Arthur on the coin, obverse or reverse.

By comparison, the coins in the "Liberty" subset showed the presidency dates on the obverse and a president-related image on the reverse.

My Adolph A. Weinman signature :)

I will only buy this coin as a medal that is in the First Spouse/President's medal set since I am collecting the series this way.
