    Strike is weak but surfaces are pretty mark free. I'll say 63.

    63 too. Nice but weak. Hard to tell if there are any marks from that distance.

    Dang, I hate it when I guess a grade in my head, only to see that everyone already agrees, and I can only look like a copycat. image

    I'd guess 63 due to weak strike as well.

    It in an NGC or older ANACS holder. I will guess MS62.

    i usually don't fall into the weak strike category.

    i'm more on the side of filled dies or lower flan density
    .

    these GTG threads might be fun but i don't see where they are educational or helpful in any way. typically, a guess of MS64 without even looking at the "picture" will be within a point or two, so where is grading skill or acumen even a factor? in my mind, these threads are partly responsible for the thinking in the minds of many forum members that it is reasonable to expect to accurately grade a coin from a picture, but that's just my rant.

    past that, i think the coin looks nice and i have always thought the wreath reverse is one of the best ever on a US coin.

    None at all. Since I've learned quite a bit from various GTG threads here over the years, I would
    disagree that they aren't "educational in any way". YMMV.

    hopefully this doesn't mean what i suspect it does, it would be silly for you to put yourself at risk over such a trivial thing.

    I started the thread thinking some would determine weak strike was actually wear but none of the smart peopleimage here fell for it! I always enjoy GTG threads no matter what the coin. Any exposure to coins is educational imho. I am sure someone learned something today by reading this! These threads don't foster world class graders but stimulate thought and analysis by the common peeps like myself and many others reading this thread.

    Getting back on topic, I think the coin is just weakly struck, not struck through filled dies. The Copper Nickel alloy was very strong and weak strikes are not uncommon for this series.
