The stockley Lincoln collection on EBay
Has anyone been paying attention to this auction since it started on Thursday night? Currently, the majority of the bids on the high priced coins are by a newbie to eBay who has no feedback score. They go by the moniker of: S***u (0.) Some of his/her bids are more than 10K higher than anyone else. This makes me wonder if they are “sham” bids. Any thoughts?

We're offering the collection in conjunction with eBay in an exciting auction event. We worked with the collector to help build the collection and we were honored when he decided to work with us to sell the collection.
You can find out more information on the collection and the coins here:

You can also view the coins on our website at:

Well you guys got your link, from someone who knows a little more about the auction than me. You beat me to it, buts that's ok,
Thanks
Empty Nest Collection
They were "reserve buster" bids, take a look and you will see what I mean
When I perused the coins most of the coins hadn't passed the reserve. I'm bidding on a couple and am the high bidder but still under the reserve.

ahh, i figured that is what the OP was talking about but with no mention of DLRC, figured it was just a diff set of coins
i'm bidding on a few of those and quite a few more b4 hammer time
.
At one point I was the highest bidder on about 30 of them, now I am only the highest on about eight. None of these are bids are serious ones, but I may aggressively go after four or five on Sunday night, it depends on how things fall.
<< <i>There are coins in there that I would bid on given the chance to view them in person, or perhaps even have a trusted advisor have a look. Are they in Baltimore? >>
Indeed we will have almost all of the coins on display for viewing at the Whitman Baltimore show on Thursday-Saturday. If you'd like us to show a few of the coins to a trusted dealer or would like to speak with us about any of the coins, we'd be happy to do so.
I've dealt personally with this entire collection for the past 2 months, so the coins have become almost like family to me
Just let us know how we can help you and we'll be happy to do so!
Thanks!

I guess if he can pay he can play.
I bet he doesn't win anything.
In God We Trust.... all others pay in Gold and Silver!
I was wondering the same thing Spooly, if this person is willing to pay tens of thousands for the best of the collection, I would want to know a little about them when this acution is heading twoard the finish line.
<< <i>That is some heavy hitting bids for zero feedback. Question is, how does DLRC feel about a bidder with no history dropping bombs. >>
A most excellent question. I was bidding on many but I'm not going to play with a kamikaze. Count me out.
Lance.
<< <i>There are a couple bidders on the collection with (0) feedbacks, but they are known customers of ours. These folks are new to eBay but DLRC. >>
That was a guess I had that they either new DLRC or Lincolns.
Not everyone buys off ebay
Sad, I could have used a few of them...
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Actually the coins are all being sold individually on eBay, not as an entire collection.
Please feel free to take a look at any of the coins and contact us if you have any questions.
Thanks!

On your web page it says the collection is being sold INTACT...doesn't that mean as one lot? Maybe I am the only one confused by this? Thanks for your help!

+1
As far as the argument on a person wanting more than one 1969-S doubled die. I agree that it may be unusual but the owner of this collection owned both of these himself. Every coin here is part of his set.
Thanks.
A good point John.
Perhaps even more surprising to me is if the bidder were indeed a dealer ... why in the world would he/she be bidding in $500 increments time after time (and at different points in the day even) at silly "low ball" levels chasing a reserve that is not revealed but obviously way more than the bid levels (e.g. 69-S AU58)? I sure would have no time for that myself. Be that as it may ....
A simple request that perhaps DLRC can answer for us here ... can someone from DLRC please email me (or any other board member here requesting it) the reserve amounts on each lot in the auction so I can decide if there are any coins I can place a bid on in excess of the reserve?
Thanks.

Mitch,
We'd be happy to do so. In fact, we've already answered many emails from customers here with requests for specific reserves. Actually, almost every coin valued under $1,000 is unreserved. However, if you'd like a list of the reserves or would like to know about a specific coin, please feel free to email me what lots you'd like to know about and I'd be happy to get an answer for you. My email address is: jb@davidlawrence.com

So did anyone walk way happy/ frusrated? I ended up with 13 coins, 9 of them top pops. I over payed for a couple of them. It was fun as well as nerve racking as the coins were going fro higher prices than what they would typically go on for Ebay.
