“Bugs Bunny” Franklin Half???

Does anybody know why the term “Bugs Bunny” is used here?

It's referring to Ben's mouth (teeth?) - see the thread of 8/9/02

There is a die crack by his mouth and it makes him look like he has bugs bunny teeth

If that scan of the coin up for auction is any good, i dont think that coin is even close to ms65.

The "teeth" marks were caused by clashed dies with the tiny reverse eagles wing (lower portion) resulting in a toothy look for Ben.

I agree with presleyh - that coin comes nowhere close to MS65 based on the pic.

That image doesn't even adequately display the clashing that gives the variety its name. Try to find a better scan and when you see one, you will see why its called the Bugs Bunny variety.

The "Bugs Bunny" Franklin is best known for the 1955. There is a 1951 "Bugs Bunny" which isn't as common as the 1955. I've seen 8 of the 1951 BB's and owned 6 out of the 8.
