Sealed box of 1 set 25th Anniversary $1675?

Just saw an auction for 1 sealed set go for $1675. Looks like one guy had a nuclear bid in place and the other guy pushed it

as for the shillish--I know the seller, and he had no clue as to the ending price. I called him while he was at a boy scout meeting and he was astounded. I see it as described, one guy wanted it, placed a nulear bid, and someone else wanted it and thought at some point he could find the bid.

Color me surprised but it was paid for. I had my doubts and thought someone would wake up after a hard night of drinking and disappear.

Can't I keep any secrets here?! Actually I tried it on a slab that retails for about $100 today, and caught my mistake quickly enough so it looks like a scuff mark.I could have it reholdered but doubt if it's worth the cost.

Anyone seen another sealed box of 1 set selling lately? All I see are opened raw sets and they're averaging a little over $700 on eBay lately. Anyone have more data on these ungraded sets?
  • Check e-bay completed sales for sealed unopened boxes...........lower 4000 price range with one box selling for 3800 (sealed boxes of 5)..........there were on 17 listings when I last looked

I personally found the single set boxes to be a bigger hassle than the five-set boxes.

That's crazy money for one set.

Which is about where the sealed 5 set boxes were at during the initial peak. Remember the thread here in which a member declined a $4500 cash offer at the PCGS table?

  • Why go nuclear on an item you can easily find elsewhere?

If I had one, I'd contact the seller and see if the buyer wanted another one ... in an ebay Buy it Now transaction, of course.
Let's try not to get upset.
