Economy/Modern PCGS Secure +

emzeeemzee Posts: 1,862 ✭✭✭
I noticed that PCGS now offers Secure + grading on Economy and Modern coins (for an additional fee). Do coins submitted for Economy/Modern PCGS Secure + services come back in Secure + holders? Does PCGS use the sniffer on these coins? I have read that PCGS does not offer ms69+ grading. Are there other Restrictions? Anybody out there have experience with these services?

All service levels are now available for secure plus grading.

Yes, they come back in secure plus holders.

    All signs point to yes.

plus can be had on grades 40 thru 68, excluding grades 60 and 61

part of the plus is eye appeal. a high for the grade coin with eye appeal gets the plus, otherwise you're not getting a plus.

Apparently PCGS doesn't even do plus grading on many types of coins, especially moderns. I submitted 50 1994-P matte proof Jefferson nickels not too long ago. I got back many in SP68FS and many in SP69FS... not a single SP68+FS. When I asked about it I was told they don't do plus grading on those since it wouldn't make much of a difference... I didn't think that sounded right, but whatever. Wish I knew that before I submitted the coins as I'm sure some of my 68s might really be 68+ coins.

I know the grade of 69+ isn't used on any coins right now.
