  there are tons of threads going into great detail on most every colonial and usa coin series
  .

  The Cherrypickers' Guide comes to mind, though that's not my specialty.

  Well, since the VAM acronym came from the initials of the authors of that particular book, I'd say there IS only one "best" book about VAMs, right?

  I would suggest Ken Potter's book,"Strike it rich" with pocket change.For one or two reasons.For one,many pages,with clear and huge pictures,and two,it's inexpensive!I believe it will cost you anywhere from 15.00-20.00bucks.Not bad,compared to those Pricey books.It's a good way to start anyway.Good Hunting!

  Not a book but you really can't go wrong with vamworld.com for VAM attribution. It's kept up to date, and the wiki-members are pretty good about answering your questions.
