Extremely Lucky Type B Reverse 25C

Last week I cherried a 1960 PCGS MS65 quarter that happened to be a Type B Reverse quarter on Ebay.
I received the coin in the mail and the case had gotten cracked around the date in the mail.
I Emailed the seller and he said to return the coin and he will replace it for me. I sent the coin
back not knowing if I will get a replacement that might also be a Type B Reverse. It would be
worthless to me if it wasn't. I received the replacement coin in the mail today and it
HAPPENED TO BE A TYPE B REVERSE replacement coin.

I consider myself EXTREMELY LUCKY to have gotten a replacement that was also a Type B Reverse.

Anybody else have something like this happen to them?????

    WHY would you do that!!!image

It had to be sent in anyway to get the variety on the label and thus a new holder.image

Nope and you got lucky getting another B type. I also ran across the seller and saw the note you left asking if any of his coins were type B, What I have learned in the past when they do not provide a reverse picture just send them a note and ask for one, if you mention type B than you have just put them on the radar for that dealer. It amazes me that there are so many who do not include a reverse picture as I thought the first 2 pictures are free from ebay?. Good luck with your hunt, I sent in my 1964 type B Yesterday (to our host)and that will finish my 2 year quest............... Enjoy tom image

  • On Ebay, the first picture is free, after that you have to pay for more.... unless you know some HTML. Then you can post pics in the Description section of your listing for free and post as many as you need....

My thoughts exactly. The buyer should contact the seller again and say that after some thought, the "cracked case" coin would be fine. Now you have two Type B cherries!

Always like the type B reverses. I think you should try to get the other one also.

Mail man must have been having a heck of a bad day to crack a PCGS holder!
  • I contacted the seller about buying the 1960 Type B Rev PCGS MS65 with the cracked case and he offered to sell it to me for $5 less.
I agreed and he is sending it out along with another 1960 PCGS MS65 that I also cherried from him that's a Type B Rev....
  • Today I got the 1960 PCGS MS65 quarter Type B Reverse that I cherried and arrived with a cracked case along with a second 1960 piece also a Type B reverse MS65. Nice to get 2 cherries in the mail today...
  • This content has been removed.
  • 1960 Type B Reverse Quarters can be found in Mint Sets. I would say MS65 and better pieces are scarce....

Not exactly; the coins could have come from closely minted mint sets or original bank rolls. With this said, as more and more people learn about Type B reverses, I expect that the populations will go up significantly and the prices will adjust accordingly.
  • Probably original bank rolls. This one dealer keeps coming up with 1960 and 1961 Type B Reverse Quarters.....
