How in the world is this in a 67 holder?

Maybe a mechanical error?? They are common and easy to spot when the companies get the date or mintmark wrong on the labels. But I would imagine they get the grade wrong just as frequently... I've had it happen to me before and it sucks.

i see it differently.

i could be wrong but i judge the marks in the hair behind the temple as "on the Holder" and seeing how everything is missing in the un-enlarged holder picture leads me to believe all those marks are lighting anomalies caused by marks on the holder. the same with everything going on in the field behind the portrait.

Look to be on the coin to me. I've seen some pretty heavy hits on MS67 and MS68 quarters and dimes that would surprise you.

It's the lighting. Very poorly done. It makes a big difference.

Of course the focus is bad, and the white balance is off too. This is one of those "take-a-chance" buys.

How many hits are allowed in the prime focal areas to still qualify for a MS67? 1-2 right?? Perhaps the reverse really sings and the toning gives it a bump. The photo isnt that great either.

Assuming the photo is accurate, no way it makes 67. I assume this is a mechanical/labeling error.

What I really want to know is why someone would submit a coin with multiple bag marks in key grading areas in the first place?? On a good day the coin is 61.
