Just bought this unusual Die Crack Bison
Thought you would enjoy seeing it.
I am very new with type of error and any feedback will help
Not my pictures
Thanks
Alan
This is what the seller had to say about this coin
A long Die Crack can be seen below the D of the United entering the back end of the Bison's Rump. The marker for this Error
is the Cud in the lower portion of the E of the States

as a chip and crack man I think that one is purdy.
I bought it because I really like it, but any more and I would have passed .
Alan
does the crack extend to the rim?
Not as fare as I can tell
Alan
But its a nice term that folks like to throw around.
So is CUD. Most of the, uh-hem, uninformed folks like to refer to any glob of metal as a CUD when in reality a CUD only occurs on the rim of a coin where the die has broken to the point where it can no longer make an impression on the planchet. As such, it leaves what appears to be a "pool" of metal.
For example, if the die crack on your coin were to continue up to the rim between D and S and down to below the U, it would create a CUD once the area became too weak to strike the coin. Total die destruction occurs shortly after that point!
The name is LEE!
Very informative and interesting to learn that
Thanks
Alan
