Fellow coin collectors

I do not know if Laurent has been reading any of the posts that have been written here over the last six months to a year, but if he has then it seems to me that he has been ignoring us by not responding in some way. Lord M has sent pm's to him and left messages on his phone. He has not returned them.

I spoke with Smitty's today. Lauren had been selling some coins for Smitty on ebay. He hasn't seen Laurent in over a year.

I live about thirty miles from Laurent. I went over to his house today. There was no one home. There was evidence that some one had been in the driveway. I looked in the window of the kitchen and saw pills all over the floor. The front porch had a large container of cigarette butts full to over flowing. I do know that Laurent had many physical problems as well as mental problems because of all the pain medication that he was on. I called and left a message on his phone for him to call me and have received no response.

I do understand that he is still selling on ebay. At this point I do not know what we can do about the situation.

I think the original concept was a great idea. I don't think any fraud by Laurent was intended. I don't know if an account was set up for the funds or if Laurent just kept it at the house. My gut feeling is that somehow the money was spent by Laurent and now is to ashamed to break the news.

What do we do now? In no way is Lord M to blame. Any one of us would have accepted the offer to send us on this trip. I was one of those who gave cash to Laurent. I will just right it off to a bad investment and learn from my mistake.

I will continue over the next week to leave messages at Laurent's phone. If he chooses to not respond, there is not much that we can do about it.

I have enjoyed my last few years reading the post and threads. There are a great many guys and gals here that have made the forumn something to be proud of. Like I said I will continue to leave messages over the next week, but let us not spoil our fun by one bad apple in the mix.

Hi Olmanjon,

Thanks for doing the legwork. It sounds like Laurent has some issues that make the loss of my $15 an insignificant thing. I too will write it off as a learning experience, and I am not sorry that we tried to send LordM off to Merry Old E., I would sign-up again if someone else started it up again. Even if Laurent has absconded with our funds, I believe that he had good intentions when this all started, and if all it costs me is this loss to belong to the one civilized forum that I have found, then I am happy to pay.

He did post about the prescription medications problems right about the time he went Yeti. The pills scattered worries me and I really do hope he is okay.

I'm sorry for his mental or physical health problems, but to spend other people's money (especially when it was donated for a generous cause) is diificult for me to forgive.

I'm not a hard-nosed, cold person, in fact, I consider myself quite the opposite.

I live by a set of rules and it seems Laurent has broken one of them.

It truly boggles my mind what some people get themselves into.

Aajan-how did you find this out? I have left messages with no feedback at all. Have also been in contact with Lord M. Where did you here this. Would be great if true.

Mea culpa--I just read the post right after posting my question here. Glad that Laurent has responded and is alive. I posted a response in the other thread.
