Thoughts on the grade of this 1804 Cent? Crossover result posted!

AnkurJAnkurJ Posts: 11,370 ✭✭✭✭
Its at PCGS right now to cross for my registry. I feel its a tad undergraded where it is right now compared to other examples. It is obviously CACd.
Thoughts?

Crossed at VG8!

    VG8 wouldn't surprise me, I guess.

Wow, 8 for sure, maybe even better ?? PCGS seems to me to more generous on large cents so cross it!! (and let us know)

Fine details, net VG for weakness on reverse and chopiness on obverse

VG8 is what I think PCGS (and NGC) will grade the coin.

IMO, there is typically not much difference between NGC and PCGS in this series in the lower grades, and not anything like MS and AU grade divergence so noted in your prior thread.

  • Put me down for VG, too. My initial reaction to the obverse was actually F, but nine to twelve o'clock in the reverse brought me back down to VG. Love those cuds!

Looks like a nice example regardless of grade but if I had to guess...VG?

Nice VG coin, but there was a time when both services would have called this Fine.

It's a Sheldon-266c as it has both cuds.

VG8 sharpness minimum. A solid example, CAC or not.

ankur - I graded it 10/7 avg+ if the color is nice. In any case it is a nice collector grade 1804.

G-6 is my guess. I don't think it quite makes the cut for VG.

Close enough - sweet coin in any holder, and well above average for the typical '04 at this grade level.
