2001 gold 50Y panda certified PF70 by NGC
Hi,
I spend most of my time on the US Coin Forum, but I have one gold panda in my collection that I am interested in selling. The only similar ebay listing I could find is this one for $5000.
Is this price legitimate, or is this just a case of someone trying to sell the label? What would be a fair asking price?

When you do a search for 2001 50 Yuan in either coinarchives.com/w or mcsearch.info you get prices in the last 6 months in the ballpark of 300 USD. Not sure if that's correct, since I know little to nothing about Pandas (gold or silver). The question is what kind (if any) premium does a PF70 grade bring...
In that case I would eliminate this auction from my pricing research.
As stated above it is a label error. The coin is actually MS, not Proof.

they had a lot of strike issues in 2001 and copper spotting is also a problem for that series. $5000 is dreaming, even for a real 70 2001-d. there is a 2001-d pcgs 69 that sold for 900 on ebay.
also, i agree that because the label says PF instead of MS is worth nothing more than a curiosity. i don't think there's any monetary value in that. anyway, that's not what you are asking. $200 to $250 is a good answer to your question, assuming the coin is problem free and not certified. it could be worth slabbing before you sell it...especially if it's a 2001-d.
if yours is raw, i highly suggest getting it slabbed if you think it's a 70 or even a 69. i think it will bring more money than it will cost to slab it.
