New Toners... What's your favorite? (Poll)(PCGS Grades in!)

Grades are posted in a new post towards the bottom.

Picked up a few toned pieces over the weekend... what's your favorite?
Any concerns on any of them? (Aside from 55-S #3)

The 3 55-S 1¢'s were pulled straight from rolls.

(A shame on the reverse of this one!)

Tough choices.

1. '46 quarter
2. '91 dime
3. '55 nickel

I wouldn't turn down any of them, though

I like the '91 dime, with the '61 dime a close second. The colors are wild on the '55 Jeffie, but... UNC? Really? I guess it could be, if it had a super mushy strike. It's got some marks, too. But the colors are pretty hypnotic. And awesome, if that's NT.

Admittedly I haven't been looking at Jeffersons for a long time but that's the wildest toning I've ever seen on one. It's by far and away the nicest looking coin to me, but what do you guys think about the toning? Does it look natural to the Jefferson experts here?

I'm fairly confident the nickel is UNC, but not gem. It is pretty weakly struck.

Sorry but I think the 55 Jeff is about as good an example of an AT coin as you can get from what I can see.

Being a liberty seated fan I choose the 1861 dime by far- seems to be the most natural long time toner out of the bunch.

I see nothing to indicate that the 1955 Jefferson Nickel is AT. It appears to be traditional album toning to me. The color progressions are correct. I have several NGC graded Jefferson Nickels with similar toning patterns. The photo does appear to be over saturated however.

No two toned coins are ever going to be the same. But finding album toned Jefferson Nickels with blue/violet centers with banded rainbow target toning at the peripheries is not that uncommon. These two coins would be the most similar to the coin posted in this thread.

Thanks for posting those pics. Nice coins.
I see your 2 examples and I see 2 exceptional coins. I see the above 55 and
I see an AT coin. Sorry, but that is what I see. The toning bands on your
examples blend, the 55 doesn't. I would love to see what our hosts would
label that 55 if sent in to them. I might be wrong, but I don't think I am.
But thanks for taking the time to show those 2 gorgeous coins of yours.

Maybe a dyslexic grader?? (65 should have been a 56)

Stunned to the point of disbelief. I want to see a picture of that coin in a PCGS MS65 holder. There is something seriously awry with that grade.

I was thinking a 62 at best on the Jeff. I rather would of had a 62 on that, and some of the others I submitted be a little higher. But it's all a game/gamble.
