Very cool! One thing you could do with the blue field is "shake 'n' bake" some cents so they develop a bluish tone. The lacquer or whatever spray you use later should keep them from turning further.
Very very cool. I think for the State Quarter one you should do Quarters directly on darker cents to make the stars pop. OR, Quarters under darker cents spread out to make the "star design" like with the dimes....??? The cents would be jacked up around it but you may be able to make it work somehow? Maybe mill out a hole with a forstner bit to get the quarter flush with the plywood?
I think this would be an awesome charity auction item for an armed forces benefit, such as the Wounded Warrior Project and the like.
