Coins are peculiar in that regard. I personally would take the Saint, but I completely understand why someone else would take the quarter. There are loads of MS 66 CAC Saints and apparently very few of the 56-D quarters in super high grade.

The word is "excepting", as in making an exception. And since the quarter's value is tied to its conditional rarity, it hardly makes sense to evaluate its relative worth to more common coins without taking that into consideration.
