These are mostly upgrades - a few because I just liked their looks.

The strike and head on the 18-P are spectacular...

Definitely one of just a few + coins I've seen that could easily be in the next solid whole grade holder and no one would argue!

    How much for the 1918? I can't believe it isn't in a 66 holder!

That 26-D is SWEET - Are those die cracks up top on the obverse?

Below is Bear's MS66+FH for comparison there's a LOT of coin in MFH's holder for the sub MS65FH monies.

    Thanks for sharing the photos.

I like the toning on the 26-d. I purchased a 1917-d type II with that kind of toning and had to pay a premuim for it but it was worth it.

Nice group. I really like the 26d. Just the hints of color work better to highlight rather than hide the design.

I bought the 26-D from Tom B and as he had it as a consignment - he had to ask more for it than I thought it should be - but the toning is great !

    Here's my other 26-D in MS 64:

All nice coins. The '18-P has a good strike, and the '26-D has unusually good color for a SLQ, but my favorite is the '19-P. The rivets on the shield don't get much better!

Meltdown, Yes quite common on the 26-D and if you look real close there's even a "rim cud" at 11 o'clock right over the "I" in LIBERTY.

    Mr. Young Eyes.

I had to expand the images on the iPad to see that rim cud.
I was aware of the die cracks but not the cud. Thanks, B/S.

    Your welcome image

I think that's formally Jon R's of RCNH's 26-D from his personal set of toned slq's.

Very, very nice stuff. I really like that the full-heads are ACTUAL full heads...not mostly full that slid-on-by.

The 18 is what full head REALLY means...but the 19 has a better shield.

I know nothing of this series, but would like to. Is the 26-D always so softly struck?

<< <i>I know nothing of this series, but would like to. Is the 26-D always so softly struck? >>

Yes, its a normally soft strike.

Here is the one I had in my last set - which I sold off a few years ago:

    image

This is the best struck 26-D I have ever seen. Its only in a PCGS 63 FH holder.

FYI - as you're new to the SLQ series - the 26-D & 26-S rank in the top five [5] hardest dates to locate in FH.

Yes the 26-D is rated at only having 1% surviving with full head details... The rest mostly look like ice cream scoops.

Many of the denver minted dates are the same 24, 28, and 29 are also extremely tough to locate with full strikes.

The 26-D way down the page is one great coin....this new 19-S ain't bad either. Didn't you already have a 19-S? Wasn't it a FH??? Or was that a 19-D?

    Jom,

    Yes, I bought a 1919-S in a PCGS 55 holder as a filler.
I have been after a MS version for awhile and I have liked
this 19-S for quite some time. My friend who sold me this
thinks I kidnapped his daughter !!

I need to resize the Obverse ( as I was told it's too large ! )

Three months ago, I resubmitted this coin to NGC - and it received an upgrade to MS 63 +

Six weeks ago, I submitted it to PCGS and I got the grade tonight...

<< <i>you can upgrade your collection in the auction of this set at Philly summer ANA >>

This is true, however, my current set was collected with one thing in mind:
NO COINS OVER MS 64 + ... And, no overdate will be included !!

I don't think there is one coin ( other than the overdate in 64+ FH )
    that falls into that category.

I am missing the 1927-S - but I have not seen one that I liked well enough
because none are available when I have been looking. My last set had a 27-S
in a PCGS 64 holder, and, I never liked it... It was just a hole filler. This time,
I won't buy one unless I really love it.

I only saw one I liked that I could even remotely afford. A nicely toned MS63 or it was a 58...I can't remember. Harry Laibstain had it about 5/6 years ago. I was just a tad too much for me so I passed. They aren't real easy to find though. However, some of the earlier dates are just as tough if not more. You've got one in the 19-S though....

Great material man, as usual. You have wonderful taste, brother. Just amazing SLQs.

Love them all, but both 19-s examples blow my mind. BLOW MY MIND!!!
