reverse pics added : rainbow lincoln cents ; can't wait to submit these ! pcgs results for 1935-d

give me your opinion on these lincolns ?

some of you guys wanted to see reverse pics of these coins, what do you think about them now ? the dealer that sold me the coins had several more with the same look, just not as pretty, anyway he said they came out of the same album. when i first looked at them my first thought is that there is no way in hell they will grade but for $3 per coin i really like them ! i guess i will submit them for grading because some of you think they are original, i will submit the 49 and 50 with my next batch of coins. the 35d is at pcgs now.

if they do grade (you got'ta be kidding me ), i will purchase the rest of those toned lincolns from that dealer !!

Nice. PCGS will probably grade them 64BN and 65BN respectively.

Been collecting Lincolns for 40 years and have never seen that kind of toning before. Maybe some VERY special circumstance created it but all of these special circumstances produce unique looks that are un-reproducible. Since the two coins from adjacent years both look the same, I can only conclude they were AT'd using the same technique. With the peripheral rainbows around clean untoned copper I'd guess a cigar torch or something similar. Would love to be proved wrong and please do post the result. Would love to see reverses as well.

The '49 will grade 64RB or BN. The 50 will probably AT. If they go in together, expect perhaps both to AT due to suspicious circumstances.

Actually, it's not too difficult to prove NT vs AT, at least for simple methods. You just need the proper surface analysis tools...

Liquid toning was my thought as well.

This type of toning is not my cup of tea, but sure looks like it could be old Whitman folder toning. If the reverses were covered in lines of toning, I would say it was this type of toning for sure.

Both coins have a neat look and the toning could be natural, however the grading companies are always hesitant about grading copper coins with this type of color.

Here is one of my best rainbow Lincolns.
I know the reverse is sort of homely, but the obverse is one of the best I've seen.
This graded MS 66 RB ...

Now that's just a beautiful natural coin. It's amazing how those roll end coins can tone...

I don't think they will grade problem-free. And even if they did I don't think money spent on grading them is wise. They are not money coins.

hey guys , i forgot to post the grade for the 1935-d cent . it came back from pcgs in a 91 holder and i did not submit the 1949 or 1950 because i'm pretty sure they would have the same results as the 1935-d . the 1949 and 1950 recently sold on ebay for a very large sum of $3.91 each. i think i paid $3 for them but i still liked the colors !
