I found a nice 1821 Bust Half today...

As I've mentioned before, somehow I've started collecting Bust Halves.
I'm not an addict yet, I can quit any time I want to... image

I saw this one today at a little shop I rarely visit and it matched the "look" I'm going for.
What do you think?

    I like it. The overall "look" that appeals to you is what I prefer in the bust coins that I purchase, also. Looks like a very attractive set-in-progress. And don't deny it, you're hooked.

    love those old, gray bust halves. I'm finding a new appreciation for circulated, raw coins these days... slabs are functional but so sterile sometimes... a coin like that should be held...

    I have a '28 in my 7070 that would be right at home in that group. congrats on the NEWP! looks great from here!

    Nice one. No doubt it was lightly "de-grey'd" a little around the Eagle, but it's got a nice overall look and detail that I love on Capped Bust coinage.

    Like others have said, that is a perfect fit to your set, and that old album only adds to the coolness of the set.

    That's a nice pickup, Meltdown, and it nestles in nicely with the others. Thanks for sharing the images of the rest. I loved seeing the die crack on the 1819 in the first post, thinking "wow, that one is really strong." Then to see it enlarged further down was fun. That 19 is a very nice coin, as is the 20.

    Here's my take on the attributions:

    1817 - O.113 R.2
    1818/7 - O.102a R.2
    1819 - O.107a R.3
    1820 - O.108 R. 2
    1821 - O.105 R.1

    And... it's too late. You have the fever.

    That's an album for halves though, right? I have a "National Coin Library" large Wayte Raymond album with the monster pages somewhere that might fit them. I know my Frankies fit pretty tight in there.

    Albums and CBHs were not a marriage made in numismatic heaven. I like the old Whitman Bookshelf albums, but the halves would rattle around too much! I like to look of your halves as well. Keep it up and no, you won't be able to quit! At 100 die marriages ... think about joining the Bust Half Nut Club. It's a nice way of sharing the disease ... um ... we all it "fever."

    I can see the Meghrig logo....image You may want to try thin strips of plastic to shim the coins. It drives me crazy to see all the coins every which way....my OCD kicks in.image

    Here's my 1819 o-107a, to me it looks virtually identical grade wise to yours....PCGS says VF35.
