Has anyone seen a non-Morgan US coin slabbed with the reverse in the front of the slab?

Has anyone seen (or does anyone own) a non-Morgan US coin slabbed with the reverse showing on the front of the PCGS holder?

I have a gold coin with outstanding color on the reverse and so-so color on the obverse, and I would like to have it slabbed backwards. I have only seen this done with Morgans in the past.

I seem to think I have seen some Frankies like that but could be wrong.

  • Just ask. They will do it. Put "REVERSE UP" in big letters on the coin's line on the submission form, highlight it, and there shouldn't be an issue.

Look at Crypto's Trade Dollar set, his 78-S DDR is turned around.

Absolutely. I just bought a coin with a Doubled Die Reverse, and the previous owner had certified it with the reverse side up. Looks good that way too.

The coin isn't a Bust or Seated coin, nor is it a Morgan dollar. It is, believe it or not, a clad Washington quarter for my personal collection of varieties.

A local guy a few years back had about 1/2 dozen Washie's reverse slabbed because of their toning.
In these days of dead presidents I wish all US coins were reverse slabbed. The reverse has become the coin .

Certainly. I own a couple Roosie dimes that are reverse up. Unfortunately, on one, that is the BAD side of the coin. I bought 2 slabbed '49-D Roosies, clearly from the same mint set card, and whoever had them slabbed must have wanted the reverse toner facing forward on one and the obverse toner facing forward on the other. Unfortunately for him/her PCGS slabbed them BOTH as reverse toners.

  • For the 2008-W/2007 Reverse Silver Eagles all I had to do was ask and PCGS holdered them with the reverse forward. Looked real nice that way.

I asked to have this one reverse out (sorry no pick in holder), and I have a 1964 DDR Washing Quarter I asked to have the reverse out.

I have seen Roosevelt Dimes, Mercury Dimes, Jefferson Nickels (see link below), Washington Quarters, Franklin Half Dollars, Kennedy Half Dollars, even Peace Dollars in an NGC holder.

unfortunately, just about every shield cent I've ever seen has been reverse up in the slab...

i've also seen a 1909 VDB with the reverse up before.

  • The new sample slabs have the cents reverse slabbed.

I have some of my commems holdered reverse side up. I have one I just sent in as well and several others will make the same journey with the same mission in the future. MJ

I just got these BTWs back from PCGS.

I pulled them out of an original cardboard holder where the D mint coin was reverse up. To preserve a common look for the toning, I wanted the set to show the same way in the PCGS holders as it was in the cardboard. I wrote "holder reverse up" on the submission form for the D mint coin, and was very happy when the set came back holdered as desired.

Commems, walkers, peace dollars and some barber quarters can be found slabbed with the reverse side up.

I purchased this Ike dollar already slabbed, reverse side up. I swear I have no idea why (the reason it was slabbed as such and the reason why I purchased it...).

    As mentioned by Will earlier,
    just write "Reverse Up", on
    the actual submission FLIP.

You can also use a 'dot' to
write and place on the flip.
