  • The TV station is just a dumb (or manipulative) by showing all those Sacs while the voiceover says "gold" coins. I kept waiting for a postscript from the network saying "most of the coins we showed you in this piece are not real gold". How many more pawn shops and B&M shops are going to be flooded with people and their Sacs now? Unbelievable.

    That's gotta be a typo of $1600-$1800.

Considering the apparent level of intelligence that went into writing the article or lack there of, I wouldn't be so sure.

  • LOL. All the gold mined in the entire history of the world sold at $2000 an ounce wouldnt pay off the national debt. But of course everyone knows that except think tank.

His exact words in this video:

Phillip Smith: One troy ounce, depending on who you sell it to, goes for six to eight hundred dollars...a troy ounce. We're sitting on bil....our government is sitting on billions of those gold coins and they are advertised to have one troy ounce. Instead of trying to sell those silly things for ten dollar a shot, why don't you melt th...have the government melt them down......

The flip side is from a distance it seems in some small part to be a halfway good idea to get the dollar coins into circulation , but i can't help thinking most people are just not that stupid. I can see a handfull of people frantic to buy rolls of them from banks but theres always going to be those few , the sublimely silly.

    Russ,

Don't you watch the news much? There are clueless people all over the news, including those who are reporting the news.

Personally, I think he has been living under a rock. Then again, maybe he escaped from the "tank" where he has been doing a lot of thinking.

Yeah, I know. But this guy set a new standard. And so did the station that was stupid enough to give him air time.

I think local news stations like to put the dumbest people on TV. The local ABC affiliate here seems to always find the toothless rednecks when they interview for some crime story or even picking random people off of the street for opinions on things such as gas prices or new petty state laws.

What do you expect from people who would rather watch a reality show than edcuation themselves for 20 min and catch a segment of the news.

I could only think of the Archie Bunker episode when Archie was interviewed on the local news regarding gun control.

At one point Archie said, "I can eliminate all the plane hijackings. Just give all the passengers guns".

Unfortunately, I believe he is. More than likely he was thinking about the recent story regarding the Feds building a storage facility for the 1.4 billion in bucks thats laying around in Dallas.

Oh well...........I believe that the "Think Tank" has a hole in it. Probably due to more drinkin than thinkin.

Wasn't there a line in the Don Henley song "Dirty Laundry" from the 80's that went: "I just have to look good; I don't have to be clear"?
