My holiday present came a little late this year..........a new 1814 CBH for my collection.

I am very happy to have picked this beauty up just before the holidays last year............. however, it looks like my present just arrived today as I got my PCGS results a little while ago.
Comments and guesses as to its grade/variety are welcome..........ENJOY!!!!!

Wow, Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your 1814 has it all!!!!
what's behind her head?
die clash, flow lines?
And yours is far from ugly, she's got quite a bit of character, I like her.

SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
I am quite fond of this one and think it will fit in very nicely with the rest of my set.
This variety usually comes weakly struck on the reverse left wing and eagles head/neck region, however NOT this one, which IMO makes her even more special.

CJ: 'No one!' [Ain't no angels in the coin biz]
Late to the party, now I'll go back and see what everyone else opined...
Outstanding. If I had your source for CBHI would have never started a type set. Who ever it is has a great eye for these just like you.

I had to do a double take when I first saw this coin as the strike for this varety is just NEVER seen like this.

You are QUITE right. And on top of that each additional clash should reduce the strike sharpness.
So what you have here is a really phenomenal coin
Brings tears to my eyes....
I cheated on the grade........ nice upgrade
To be honest, I have always liked your 1814 E/A PCGS AU50, it has just the right amount of nice toning and great eye appeal IMO.
Wanna trade
<< <i>My 1814 E/A has always been one of my favorite coins. But I would drill a hole in it and flip to LordM at the next show if I had yours
LOL!
Your coin is another beauty!
That is one heck of a strike. The bird never looks that good on this variety.
This coin has a pinch of wear but I bet they call her a low MS as a butt slap for her strike.
This coin would liven up any collection.
It sure looks MS to me!
I really don't get why that strike is so good??
It almost looks like the die were domed, since the middle strike is so
strong, while the stars are very heavily drawn out to the rim.
Did lapping cause that? I presume they tried to minimize the affect of
the clashes by lapping (several times).
This 1814 CBH happens to be the O-108a E/A Variety and is graded MS61 by PCGS.......pop 1/3.
