Has anybody seen a toned proof in a set that is still sealed in cellophane?

I have a 61 proof nickel with amazing toning, not just hints of it. I sent it in still in the cellophane.

Yes. Have seen blue and purple cents, purple nickels, and golden silver coins.

I've seen blue Jeffs and reddish Halves, Quarters, and Dimes.

I have a 1962 proof set in OGP that has a possible Cameo quarter that is toned a deep, fiery orange across 100% of both sides of the coin.

It is very attractive and unusual.
  • The best part of it is that I paid spot price for the half, quarter, and dime for the set. I left it in the cellophane so the host does not think it was AT'ed - or that it is less likely.
  • There's a lot of those Boxed proof sets from the fifties that are really toned..

There are a fair amount of them out there.

Like the others said, lots of blue nickels. I see a lot with mottled reddish brown, also, usually because there is a hole in the cellophane somewhere...

Pretty common for the years of 1961 - 1964.....I have sold dozens of these sets just this past year alone...but they can be very colorful!
