Hypothetical ebay question on positive feedback

Let's say you sold a coin.
You receive positive feedback from the buyer something like:
"Fast shipping, very pleased, thank you." or something to that effect.

A week later, the buyer is not happy, for whatever reason, and wants to return it.

Can you be forced to take the item back and refund the money or once positive feedback
is left is it considered "deal done" and the buyer can't return it even if he wanted to?

It has never happened to me, but I have always wondered.

I am pretty sure the buyer can still return the coin, yes.

Yes you can get a return after positive feedback is left.

  • I'd say it depends on the return policy.

If it's a 'no questions asked' policy (which I presume to cover buyer's remorse), then +feedback is irrelevant and they SHOULD BE able to return it.

If it's a 'quality based' policy, then +feedback is an indication that the quality is okay and they SHOULD NOT BE able to return it.

To go a step further, Can a buyer that has left Positive feedback file an item not received claim?

We ran into this recently with the sale of 5 sealed Anniv sets. The buyer bought something like 10 sealed boxes over a few weeks time, and somehow got his mail guy to hand them over without getting a signature...

Other than that, he refused to answer "any" messages about the delivery, either on his buyer account, or his big ego seller account. And NO he wasn't sick or lost his glasses as suggested. In fact he was actively buying, selling, responding to messages inquiring into his listed items, and leaving feedback for his buyers.

I eventually had enough and called him just a few days before I thought it would be returned for non-delivery and he acted very weird on the phone.

Instead of initially just confirming receipt, first he claimed there was no invoice in the box (which he wouldn't know unless he had it).

I told the guy listen: You're mistaken, I myself packaged the box, triple reinforced, padded, taped and glue sealed shut, multiple layers of double reinforced brown security string tape and most definately included an invoice and fully insured it, so you simply missed it somehow... then he recited what happens to a seller when the post office fails to provide a service and how paypal will do nothing about it if he filed a claim other than give him back his money.

I cut him off at that point and said Well good, I'm glad you have it then we won't have to worry about any claims.

He also told another seller that was in the same boat that his mail guy gave him a bunch of boxes without signing for them and recited the same story to that guy as well. All the usps online tracking showed was delivery attempted, notice left...

After a long hold by paypal, they finally released my buddies $ to him...around a week later, or almost 5 weeks after the sale, the buyer left positive feedback...My buddy asked if he was in the clear with this bozo and I said Yes...But couldn't he still file a claim?
