Toned PL's and DMPL's

Does the above mentioned tone to the same degee as normal Morgans? I do not see many toned Pls and DMPLs. Is it that they don't tone with the same frequency or due the rarity of the two, it makes finding a toned version that much harder?

Does anybody have any pics?

They do tone up as well as any morgan but many may have been dipped to show the mirrors.

Not my coin, but belongs to another forum member.

PL's and DMPL's will tone just as readily as non prooflike dollars. PL's and DMPL's make up a fairly small percentage of all mint state Morgan's, and you can also add that many of the PL's and especially DMPL's have also been dipped one or more times which further decreased their numbers.

A lot of them are dipped, and I think this contributes to the reasons.

Not a monster that we're accustomed to but it's PL and the toning is attractive IMO.

Todd, your 85 DMPL toner is quite attractive image

I used to collect DMPL dollars back in the 1990s, but the ones with die polish lines in the fields always bothered me. Mint-made or not, I feel like they are a detraction from eye appeal on DMPLs. My collection did not get too big as a result. I now collect Seated material, which is much less sensitive to minor grading questions due to the fact that very little of it is MS.

I love the look of this coin. There's a light orange tone that's a bit more pronounced on the reverse.
    p.s. I can't believe "The Abyss" is only a 63. Great coin!
