On Friday of the FUN show, Don Willis was present at VAM Thing IX, the annual festivities of the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors, which has been held at the January FUN show since 2004, to accept the "VAMMaster" award on behalf of PCGS's main variety attributor, Mike Faraone. The VAMMaster award is the SSDC's lifetime achievement award that has been given to people in recognition of their pioneering contributions to VAM collecting. Previous years' award recipients whose names many will recognize include Leroy Van Allen, Jeff Oxman, Michael Fey, Bill Fivaz. Mike has been a collector of Peace dollar varieties for a long time, and has been working for grading services doing both grading and attribution for at least 20 years. He is a past-president of the National Silver Dollar Roundtable and long-time editor of their journal. He was instrumental in getting PCGS's variety attribution service up and running and in turn making variety collecting more and more mainstream.

Congratulations, Mike!

Bravo Mike! A well deserved honor for one of the really good, nice, hard working guys on behalf of collectors.
