I liked it when Heritage was quoting me in their ads a few years ago from stuff I said on this forum. Kind of neat to see my forum name in print in all the coin magazines and newspapers for a year or so. image

I've got the "VDB" thing on the penny roll's end coin down pretty good (i can tell by the shape of the letters, position of the periods, etc. if there really is an "s" on the other side) but does anyone know how to tell if there really could be a "D" on the 1916 dated dime showing on the end of a roll of pennies?

Truth in advertising the penny roll with the 1916 dime showing on the end would be,

"Could there be a third "D" on the other side?"

I'm thinking a bidding frenzy could ensue with this kind of advertising.

I would advertise like this myself but I don't have any 1916 dimes with even two "D's" on the other side.image

Baley i have decided to declare this thread to be an "equal opportunity" thread.

Coin advertising "turn on" is allowed here,in other words.image

I'll tell you what's not so rare in the ebay coin world:

"L@@K" appears 2071 times in 444978 titles under US Coins on ebay as we speak.

Numbers like this kind of turn me on. image

In the course of my researching L@@K on ebay,I found this gem:

"L(©¿©)K Super 1909-S Corroded Lincoln Head Cent"

Now this is a LOOK on ebay that is fresh and exciting.

Turnon followed quickly by turnoff is what we got here.

I do not know if he on this board, or even still in the business, but there was this guy named Bret Leifer who had this sexist advertisement in Coin World that read:

    COINS FOR MEN!

My wife is an avid collector, but I am picture this conversation.

"Hi, Bret, this is Laura Sperber (or any other successful woman coin dealer). I was going to spend six figures on the coins in your ad, but they're for men so I am going to pass. Have a nice day."

I recall several years ago, Julian Liedman (Julian on this board) ran an ad in either Coin World or Numismatic News, stating that he was "... the largest dealer in rare coins". For those of you who knew Julian several pounds ago, this was a delightful play on words. At the time the ad was running, at a Baystate Show in Boston, attendees were stunned to hear Coleman Foster (another 'giant' in the coin business) yell across the bourse floor, challenging Julian on his claim to being the "largest coin dealer". All in good fun, from two of the 'largest' dealers in coins.

I metal detect and was unable to lose weight by metal detecting for coins.

You know, losing weight would be a positive result of getting in shape by excercising and what better way to do this than while having some fun.

I have concluded that my inability to lose weight by metal detecting,in earlier days, must have had something to do with the celebratory donut(s) I would treat myself to after making good find(s).Two good finds in the same hole, two donuts. The late '70's were my halcyon days, the donut days,if you will.

In these more recent times,I have finally lost some weight and attribute this to significantly fewer good MD finds hence fewer donuts being consumed.

The mini-donuts I would celebrate with are not to be underestimated. They come packaged in convenient-for-the-field six packs, adding to their allure.
