For the record, the last time one sold it was just under $900,000. F-12 graded coin. That specific coin hadn't been for sale in over 60 years before surfacing in 2004, and then again in 2009. Two of them have sold in the last 27 years.
Valuable yes, but I just cant see paying big money for a reeded edge that doesn't have a reeded edge? It would bug me more owning THAT coin than having the gap in my collection.

That was exactly my first thought as well. I think the last circulated 1894-S dime that sold came close to that price too.
