Time to buy Indian quarter eagles

RYKRYK Posts: 35,800 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just got off the phone with a telemarketer wanting to sell these to me.

I guess the time to buy them was probably three months ago.

And why was that? Was it because gold was less or more expensive than it is now? What was their or your reasoning for this?

It means that they are being promoted, so there is the potential for rising prices, especially if the promotion is successful. It has nothing to do with gold prices, and everything to do with marketing.

There were some other suggestions of rising "interest" in Indian quarter eagles in the Rosen newsletter, as well.

Thank you for your reply RYK. I'm finding it hard to find on the internet of the Rosen Numismatic Advisory Newsletter. Is there a link that you can provide that would allow interested persons to gain knowledge from this source?

Ad in Coin World page 89 of the Jan. 2012 issue: For free $10 sample send $1 for shipping to:
The Rosen Numismatic Advisory P.O. Box 38 Plainview, NY 11803
As far as the Indian quarter eagles, a few months ago they were $279 for raw supposedly BU in various ads such as Paul Sims. Now they are $285 [add shipping] and one ad says $299.

I was considering buying an Indian quarter eagle a number of years ago (1990's?) when they began to be heavily promoted. The prices increased sharply, and remained high for a long time. I never bought one. Just fairly recently, they seemed to be coming down in price, but I probably wouldn't get one anyway - I've spent too much on modern cr@p lately.

One reason it that this is a series that can be completed. The 11-D is a little tough. But all can be collected for a reasonable price in low MS. I think a recent Numismatist article featured the series.

I LOVE the Rosen Advisory Letter. It's totally old school. Our own Dave Wnuck was a star the past two issues. MJ

I love that series...and I have all of them as a nicely matched 62 set in multicoin slabs (when multicoin slabs were offered, that is)!
