What is the grade on the holder? that should lend some evidence to it.

Too hard to tell from that photo, but I'd bet it's on the coin.

Unless it's a toning streak, there is no way that coin would've graded at 66 if it were a staple scratch or other simmilar mark. My guess is on the holder.

My first thought that it was on the holder because if it were on the coin it would never grade 66, however............

Looks like it's on the coin---hence, the MS66 grade rather than a higher grade. I know this sounds obvious, but have you tried asking the seller of this coin?

No way to tell for sure. But I also think it looks like it's on the coin. Strike is hammered and it's fields are so pristine otherwise... Would you still want it, if the mark is on the coin?

I would think if it was on the plastic there would be some kind of shadow or something showing being the light is right across it.

I bet its on the coin.

I'd also bet that it's not so easily seen in hand. A camera can pick up and augment the weirdest anomolies on a coins surface.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

If that mark were on the slab, you would have only had to ask once. Take the hint.

Truth. It's probably not as bad as it looks.
