Now that ASE's are 25 yrs old, will the Secretary change their design?
The law directing the minting of ASE's is now 25 years old, and thus, the Secretary of the Treasury can change the design. Anybody think he will do this?
With such a popular series, I would think He wouldn't, but stranger things have happened . . .

Maybe they will make them look like very big dimes.
"A car is a tool that takes you from one place to another. Everything beyond that is a payment for other people's perception of you."
Not that its really needed.
The name is LEE!

He who knows he has enough is rich.
Kookaburras and Britannias change each year. That's one of many things I like about collecting them.
The series took a hit with the milk spotting and a change would bring things back. They did some nice platinum eagle designs....or could use a classic, early 1800s, type of design.....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

That said, what would they put on it? With the Mercury dime design spoken for on the possible palladium bullion coin, the only Renaissance era designs left to copy are the Standing Liberty quarter and the Peace dollar. (The Lincoln design is still in use).
The S.L. Quarter design might work. I dare them to use the Variety One design! Or how about the pattern design with the dolphins in it? That would sell!
And what about the gold? How about we keep the St. Gaudens $20 design on the ounce, but put the $10 design on the half ounce and the Pratt design on the quarter and tenth ounce pieces?
It'll never happen......

...if it is changed, i hope it's not another copy of something that is a classic already. i keep confusing them with the beautiful walker half dollars of long ago.
<< <i>Last time I asked this question to the marketing department the it was clear that it was not being looked at right now. >>
Thanks for the info Eric. I started a thread on this subject a couple months back on a bullion board and no one had any news so it's good to hear your opinion.
<< <i>I hope so--at least with the reverse. >>
I agree with that line of thinking 100%. The obverses on the AGE and ASE are timeless and should never be changed IMO. However I wouldn't mind seeing a new reverse on the AGE, and I've always hated Mercanti's Trans-Am eagle on the ASE.
